That 9 Iron hit 152 yards also travelled thousands of miles around the world of golf welcoming a new champion. 18 years later watching that clip it still gives me goosebumps, as history tells us a few months later he went on and not only won his first major, he ran away with it.
Anyone who knows anything about sport knows who Tiger Woods is. He was and in my opinion still is the Poster Boy for the game. You can have your Rory's, Jordan's, even Rickie's but no one will ever demanded attention the way he does.
Its ironic that an event he was hosting this weekend may turn out to be the one that gets people talking about him again for the right reasons. He done pretty much everything right this week apart from drive the ball well. He does that and Troy Merritt isn't strolling down the last few holes like he's out playing a friendly four ball.
The lob shot he hit on 18 Saturday night and the Five Wood on 12 yesterday were not only the best shots of the tournament but arguably the best of the season. I don't think any other player in the field could have played them. Maybe after two of three attempts but not under the gun.
He is just too good not to come back and here's hoping he heads to Whistling Straights early and gets some "Good Reps" in and competes in the final major of the Season.
